Capital and Santa Fe High School Bands in Heart of Marching Season

Capital and Santa Fe high school bands are in the midst of an active marching season. Already, both bands have marched in Santa Fe Fiesta parades and several football games, having started rehearsals in mid-July. Student pride and musical excellence emanate enthusiastically from both groups.

This year, the SFHS Demon Pride Band initiates an impressive “Don’t Stop Being a Demon” tour, featuring music of the iconic rock band Journey. Selections include “Any Way You Want It, “Separate Ways,” “Open Arms,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Capital High Jagpride Regiment presents a show entitled “Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept.” This show features James Bond music such as the James Bond Theme, and music from Goldfinger and Mission Impossible. They also perform the tune “Skyfall,” recently recorded by Adele.

Both bands are preparing for competitive marching shows and will compete in three statewide marching festivals in October: the Valencia Classic Marching Festival on October 5 at Valencia High School in Los Lunas, the 33rd Annual New Mexico Pageant of Bands on October 12 at Manzano High School in Albuquerque, and finally, the culminating 36th Annual Zia Marching Band Fiesta on October 26 in the University Stadium at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

There’s still opportunity to see our high school bands at home high school games or parades.
